Race Description

Join us for the Second Annual BreyerFest© 5K Run/Walk on Sunday, July 16, 2017 at 8:00am at the Kentucky Horse Park Alltech Arena in Lexington, KY.

This year, BreyerFest is traveling to India, celebrating its diverse culture and landscape! The race includes commemorative T-shirts (guaranteed to all participants that register before July 3rd), chip timing, overall and age group awards, a DJ spinning upbeat, Bollywood-inspired dance music, post race snacks, cool Breyer door prizes, and new for this year, FINISHER MEDALS FOR THE 5K PARTICIPANTS!

We’ll also have an untimed 1 mile fun run/walk for those not interested in the full 5K (3.1 mile) distance. If you can’t make the race but want to support the cause you can register as a Virtual Runner/Walker and we’ll send you your commemorative race T-shirt and finisher medal.

Strollers and dogs on fixed length leashes are permitted. We ask these participants to start toward the middle or back of the pack so we don’t have congestion at the start of the race.

Old Friends Thoroughbred Retirement Farms

A portion of proceeds will benefit Old Friends Thoroughbred Retirement Farms (www.oldfriendsequine.org). Founded in 2003 by former Boston Globe film critic Michael Blowen, Old Friends is a Thoroughbred Retirement Facility in Georgetown, KY that now cares for more than 155 horses whose racing and breeding careers came to an end. A “living history museum of horse racing”, the farm attracts nearly 20,000 tourists annually that get up close and personal with such stars of the turf as 1997 Kentucky Derby winner Silver Charm, three-time Santa Anita Handicap victor Game on Dude, Breeders’ Cup Sprint Champion Gulch and Breeders’ Cup Classic winner Alphabet Soup. By promoting these one-time celebrated horses through a campaign of education and tourism, Old Friends aims to draw attention to the need for widespread Thoroughbred aftercare. The farm is open to the public for tours daily. Reservations are required. Please call (502) 863-1775.
